Accessibility

The Topeka Performing Arts Center strives to provide excellent service to all our guests, including those guests with disabilities and special needs. TPAC recognizes the needs of persons with disabilities and has met or exceeded the requirements of compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and Kansas accessibility mandates. TPAC provides a full range of accommodations for guests with disabilities to ensure their safety, comfort and enjoyment of our events and facilities. The following section highlights our services.

If you are in need of accessible seating you may purchase through any Ticketmaster method or call the TPAC Box Office at 785-234-2787 x100.

Wheelchair Storage

For guests who wish to transfer to a seat from their wheelchair, we will store your wheelchair at our Guest Services Center. Our staff will make
arrangements to return the wheelchair to you at the end of the event, or any other time you would prefer.

Accessible/Disabled Tickets

Accessible seating tickets are available through Ticketmaster and the Topeka Performing Arts Center Box Office. Accessible/disabled seating is available in specific locations in the theater. When ordering accessible tickets, it is important to indicate that you need seating that requires the features of an accessible space so we can properly seat you.
  • Please note that seats in the balconies are not accessible, the elevators at TPAC do not service the balcony levels.

Purchase Accessible Tickets

  • Visit ticketmaster.com (link to our page on TM), find your event, click the "TICKET" link, then click the Accessible icon located in sections A, B, C, or D on the floor.

  • Topeka Performing Arts Center Box Office also sells accessible seating. Please visit the Box Office page for hours and more information. For questions/concerns regarding accessible seating, please contact TPAC Offices 785-234-2787 ext 100.

Accessible Parking and Entrance

Accessible spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and are located on the north end of the west side of the building. Please refer to the Parking section of this website for maps, directions and more information. The Accessible Entrance is located on the west side of the building at the south end. In addition, a drop off zone is also located along Quincy Avenue.

Wheelchair and Accessible Seating Policy

Accessible seating is reserved exclusively for patrons with accessible needs and their companions. Patrons purchasing accessible seating may purchase one (1) accessible seat and up to three (3) companion seat adjacent to the accessible seat. Depending upon availability, seats for additional guests will be located as close as possible to the accessible space. This policy ensures that we are able to accommodate all those that need accessible seating.

Topeka Performing Arts Center is committed to working with patrons on a case-by-case basis to adequately accommodate individual needs. All ticket sales are on a first-come, first-serve basis and will depend on ticket availability. There is no guarantee that any companion tickets will remain unsold and available.

Please contact Guest Services or the Box Office the night of the event with further questions.

Sign Language Interpreters

Topeka Performing Arts Center is pleased to provide signed performances for our hearing-impaired guests for select concert events. Interpretation services are not guaranteed for every event; however, we will make every effort to accommodate each request with appropriate advance notice, at least two (2) weeks prior to the event. Please contact the box office with further questions or to request services.

Assistive Listening Devices (ALD)

Assistive Listening Devices are available for hearing-impaired guests at all Topeka Performing Arts Center events. Please visit the Box Office located in the lobby of the main level and request an Assistive Listening Device. Guests will be required to leave valid identification such as a driver's license as collateral. This is a complimentary service.

Service Animals/Guide Dogs

Animals or pets of any kind are prohibited in Topeka Performing Arts Center with the exception of trained service animals and service animals in training for guests with disabilities. Service animals with valid certification are welcome inside the venue, but must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times. Service animals will rest in the seating area of the individual with a disability, rather than in the aisle. A guest whose service animal poses a threat to the safety of other Topeka Performing Arts Center guests and employees may be asked to escort the animal off the premises. Please note: You may be required to present certification for your service animal prior to entering the building.

Emergency Evacuation Procedures

Topeka Performing Arts Center personnel have been properly trained in emergency evacuation procedures to ensure the safe evacuation of all patrons, including those guests with disabilities, in the case of an emergency. Please pay careful attention to the instructions from the Topeka Performing Arts Center staff. You may refer to the FAQ section of the website for information in advance of your arrival at TPAC.
